Four Easy Ways to Improve Your Smile for the Holidays

Posted .

To help you prepare your smile for the busy autumn activities and socializing, our Burton Dental Care team in Marietta, Georgia, would like to share four easy ways you can improve your oral health and smile with confidence. Let’s take a look!

#1-Brush: A beautiful smile starts with a healthy smile. Brushing is your number one way to maintain a healthy smile. Brushing rids your mouth from oral bacteria which attacks teeth and gums. To remove bacterial plaque, brush at least twice a day for two minutes at a time. Use a fluoride toothpaste if you want to boost tooth enamel, or a teeth-whitening toothpaste if you want your pearly whites to shine brighter.

#2-Floss: Because brushing your teeth can only remove 50% of plaque-causing bacteria, flossing is another oral health essential because it can clean other 50% of bacteria residing between teeth and along the gumline. Not only that but flossing once a day also removes embarrassing food particles stuck between teeth, keeps gingivitis (gum disease) away and freshens your breath.

#3-Whiten: To whiten deep or stubborn stains in your smile, see your dentist for a teeth-whitening treatment to noticeably lighten your pearly whites by several shades. Maintain whiter teeth by staying away from staining items such as coffee, tea, wine, tomato sauce, hot sauce, curry sauces, blueberries, cherries, raspberries, and tobacco.

#4-Freshen: An appealing smile includes a clean breath. Good breath relies on healthy saliva levels through proper hydration, so drink lots of water can prevent dry mouth and bad breath. Fresh breath is also achieved by killing the germs that cause bad breath. You can boost your breath rinsing your mouth daily with an antimicrobial mouthwash.

We hope these four tips help you get your smile ready for the holidays in style! Be sure to attend your end-of-year dental cleaning to support your daily efforts. To schedule your cleaning with our dentist, Dr. Joshua Burton, please call 770-973-4034 today!
